Vice Rector of VNU-HUS, Nguyen Tien Giang, opened the proceedings with a presentation to welcome the delegates, saying that “We are honored that all faculties of VNU-HUS have training programs evaluated according to this prestigious standard."

10 VNU-HUS programs have been assessed with positive results. VNU-HUS is the first ASEAN University to be accredited by AUN-QA and has officially reached the AUN-QA quality standard. The Vice Rector thanked VNU-HUS staff and students for their efforts and expressed his hopes that the review team will be pleased with the results presented by the evaluation team.

Prof. Dr. Rosemary Seva - AUN-QA Assessor, speaks at the Ceremony

Prof. Dr. Rosemary Seva, AUN-QA Assessor, emphazied that “AUN-QA is the only factor of the quality assurance System and Mechanism in the ASEAN.”

Since establishment in 1998, the AUN-QA has grown to be the leading Quality Assurance body in the ASEAN region. The first major achievement in their growth was the 2007 implementation of the program assessment. It has now assessed over 500 study programs in 6 ASEAN countries, as confirmed by Prof. Dr. Rosemary Seva.

The assessment of the programs at VNU-HUS will take place between the 10th and 12th of December 2019. During this time, AUN-QA specialists will conduct in-depth interviews with all parties involved in the accredited audit program, including faculty and department heads, faculty staff, faculty support staff and students, alumni, and employers, to obtain objective, multi-dimensional information for evaluation.

The delegation visited the Laboratories, workshops and computer rooms of the Faculty of Mathematics, Mechanics and Informatics as part of the program.

The AUN-QA standard is a comprehensive assessment of the unit's performance and training program. It is based on a self-assessment of the unit and its training program, evidence records, field surveys and interviews with stakeholders. The AUN-QA standards will help assure the quality of the unit and training program, which will open up opportunities for staff and students to cooperate with universities in the region and around the world on training and research. This creates a favorable pathway for students of VNU-HUS to study or undertake exchanges with ASEAN universities, thereby promoting cooperation and building communities in the region.
